The lamp had been buried under the city for a thousand years before he found it. She had counted, in the dark, the ways a person can be made to want. By the time the boy's hand closed around the brass, she had already chosen her terms: she would give him everything he asked for, exactly as he asked.
He asked for the princess. He asked for the palace. He did not ask to be loved, and this was the oversight she had been waiting for. She holds him now between her fingers the way one holds a coin before spending it, and she is smiling because she already knows which wish he will waste next, and which he will spend the rest of his life wishing he could take back.
Each Chuffed puzzle comes in a reusable zip bag and includes an art print stand. Free returns within 30 days of purchase.
